The tradition of icon painting came to Russia from Byzantium. Though the first Russian icons were very close to Byzantine ones with the years Russian icon painters developed their own style. Many icons were destroyed during the communist times in Russia. The communist leaders offered their own portraits instead of icons. I am happy to bring icons back into our everyday life. According to the tradition of icon painting my icons are made in egg tempera on wood.
